It's far too twee for starts, and I'm also opposed to dressing up little girls as mini women: not cool.
But I think the odd, subtle bit of coordination is acceptable - and you don't necessarily have to be in possession of a daughter to do it...
I didn't have to choose matching items, but as soon as I got onto the site I couldn't resist picking pieces that we could wear independently - or make a little statement by busting them out at the same time.
El loves bright colours, so I knew straight away he'd be up for something from the hip and bubbly brand that matched the summer dress I fell in love with at first sight - and when it's done well, pink in boys' clothing is fabulous.
With a me&i medallion print and a tie-back ribbon, my soft jersey dress can be dressed down (as per this shoot) with a plain tee or button down shirt underneath and hi-tops or flip-flops, or dressed up with a crop cardi and white wedges.
El's 95% cotton jersey tee is from a retro-inspired unisex range with a straight fit and an eye-popping print that beats boring high street designs hands down. It's affordable, great quality and I commend his styling choices. (Mustard cords? Surely only my son would be so bold.)
We're quite pleased with the results of our his&hers styling efforts. Expect to see us rocking a few more matching outfits across the summer...
