Two tone sequin blazer

I'm kind of over the Millie Mackintosh style blazers with sequin arms and canvas fronts, but this cute two tone oversized jacket (similar to a design on Richard Nicoll's AW13 catwalk) landing at pretaportobello.com for £79, could sorely tempt me.

It's definitely made to be worn with tapered tailored trousers, silver pumps and a crisp button down shirt...autumn-tastic.

Appaz, it's time to channel the wild west - and would you get a load of those boots.

I feel they need to be added to my collection.

Boyfriend coat: autumn must-have

If you're feeling a bit butch this season (oh come on, ladies, who isn't?) you could plump for one of this season's must-haves: the boyfriend coat.

I saw a lassie in the station a few days back wearing a gorgeous checked one with skinny jeans and loafers. Lovely, it looked.

So perhaps the style from Topshop above might appeal, or for something less colour-pop-esque, try this little fella by New Look:

Made in Chelsea fashion: episode 2 season 6

It's Made in Chelsea episode 2, season 6 time readers...

Can I begin by asking if you have noticed that the disclaimer now says "scenes created for entertainment" rather than "some scenes created for entertainment" - that "some" was of vital importance, I fear.

Spencer is certainly entertained. His "acting" is plumbing all new depths as he appears to be on the verge of laughter in every scene, no matter how skullduggerous he is meant to be.

Let's just pray that Proudlock's top knot has been created purely for our entertainment. And if Victoria's new habit of travelling around in a helicopter (and wearing exactly the same shoe boots as her mate) hasn't been created for our entertainment, I may have to throw up in Mark Francis' champagne bucket.

The ever-changing love triangles are getting too dull to even pass comment on, but on the positive side, the way Spenny said "Andy and Lehwez" when him and the new denim-cut-off-wearing American stooge (also known as Spencer Pratt's sister and former Hills regular) hijacked the dreaded reconciliation date....just genius.

And Mark Francis shared his fashion tips for a London wardrobe - city suits and wellies. Hopefully, not at the same time.

Finally, someone needs to tell Louise (rider of "the big horses") that there is no such thing as "just shopping" at Dior. Jesus.

Here's some fashion.

Binky was first to meet Spencer's Yankee Doodle Dandy - wearing this beautiful white coat with contrast print cuffs: could well be vintage or customised...if you know, do tell

Louise was on fantastic jacket form in this episode - love the tangerine against the monochrome dress

If you're really quick you can bag your own tangerine dream for £15 from River Island

Louise did look lovely on her ill-fated "let's get back together" date with Andy - loved the sequin pink blazer (looks like the sold out Maje Apte version to me) and bow necklace

Here's a lookalike by Kaytie Wu for just £12 at the Beauty Closet

Phoebe's getting right on my wick if I'm honest this season, but I did love the cute, 60s-style dress she wore for the polo

If you love the style, this is the dress to get (I just have - it's £49.68 from Feeluxury) - also worn by Zooey Deschanel, I believe, so it is not to be sniffed at

I'd been warned about the gnashers, but I was still a bit shocked by Sam's teeth in this scene - yikes, mate. Get thee to an orthodontist. Still Louise distracted me with her cream boucle jacket (ASOS - sadly, now out of stock), lilac tunic and silver shorts

Cara Delevigne makes us want...eyebrow surgery??

$

Years back, my beautiful, late Auntie Dee told me never to pluck my eyebrows. Mine were amazing, she said. I should leave them as nature intended. Did I listen? Did I chuff.

I was about 15 or 16 when I put tweezer to brow and went to town. I didn't do a bad job or anything. I didn't make them too thin...but oh, how I wish I'd taken AD's advice because they never did grow back.

I may not have to trim (!), but instead of the wonderful bushy pair God gave me, perfectly in keeping with the trend set by Cara Delevigne (above), I'm cursed with skinny brows forever more. Bah.

Ah, they were the days: sullen pout, crazy perm, Sun-In streaks and full brows. Yes, readers, that's me circa 1988. I really am THAT old.

And I'm not the only one with regrets. According to new stats released by whatclinic.com, demand for eyebrow enhancement treatments has gone up by 127%...

As well as the growth of eyebrow tattoo desires, enquiries for eyebrow transplant surgery have risen too; a highly-skilled surgeon takes individual follicle "units" and transplants them into your eyebrows (ouch!).

But it costs up to about £3,500 - a high price to pay for a thicker brow.

And of course, trends change. I'm mourning the loss of my bushy brows now, but give it a couple of years and skinnies will be back in vogue.

This little infographic spells it out...

Hip to be square

It's been a day of many developments, but I am - frankly - bushed, so I'll save the excitement for tomorrow and for now share with you the latest addition to my costume jewellery collection.

This square, gold plated galaxy ring is just £12 from Accessorize. It's got a lovely vintage twist but the zinc and geometric lines give it a contemporary look - not to mention Halloween cred.

And it's sparkly!

Fashionable Christmas table by John Lewis

At work last week I stumbled across this dressed Christmas table on the John Lewis website.

Vintage-inspired, I fell in love at first sight with the colour palette and the sheer chicness of it.

That's why I schlepped all the way to JL in Kingston today: as well as buying props for a Christmas-themed shoot, I just had to grab a couple of the bits above for my own Christmas decor.

The vintage glass tree is just to die for, and this year's Christmas colour scheme will be dusty pink and silver...I might wear a vintage outfit to match.

Splendid.

1980s cocktail dresses that I can wear NOW

$

I had a little revelation today, during a trip to the V&A museum's Club to Catwalk exhibition with my fashion journalism class...

Prattling on to my students about ideas they could use for their next assignment (a blog post no less: oh to be a university student in the 21st century), I was trawling through my own thoughts for related bloggage. And during that process I stumbled upon a little realisation.

The lightbulb switched on because the reason I'm in love with early-80s cocktail dresses is that I wasn't allowed to wear them the first time around.

Growing up in the 80s I remember nagging my mum for everything from drainpipes to deely boppers, and (quite rightly) being denied.

I was the tender age of nine or 10 at the time, so she was pretty unlikely to sanction a strapless cocktail dress - and rightly so.

But that desperate longing for frills and fancy and ruched bust detailing just never quite went away, and now I'm a grown up (and the rest) I still find myself daydreaming about such things.

In today's exhibiton, I fell deeply in love with two examples of fantasy 80s eveningwear: a John Galliano floaty muslin evening dress in pale pink and a "Birds Wing" evening dress by Antony Price. Both awesome examples of 80s going out wear and so much nicer than the foul knits that were doing the rounds at the same time (the knitted skirt? NO THANK YOU.)

I've got a few choice vintage pieces from the 80s in my wardrobe, but I could certainly handle more. The cocktail dress above, a bright shocking pink number from Peekaboo Vintage @ ASOS Marketplace will do for starts. Fully lined and fully frilled it is reduced to £37.50 in the sale. Get in.

And this time around, no one can stop me (unless my mum rings and pleads a convincing case - I'm prolly getting too old now so she would be in the right again!)

Brill Battersea burgers at Dip & Flip

Warning: if you've not had your tea, this post is going to make you hungry.

We nipped down to Clapham Junction (or Battersea, if you're a purist) this lunchtime, to sample the fashionable culinary delights of Dip & Flip on Battersea Rise...

If you read the Independent on Sunday you may have spotted that editor Lisa Markwell ate at this daring-to-be-different burger joint this week.

She reckons it's "home to the best bacon cheeseburger in London" - high praise indeed.

And well deserved.

Now that's what I call a Sunday lunch: the signature beef sandwich is served with a bowl of gravy for dipping and a side helping of horseradish. Perfection

Meat lovers will relish this joint - but there is a new veggie option on the menu too

We first sampled the dipping and a-flipping on the opening night when I gorged on the classic Dip & Flip burger, a patty served in brioche bun with a gravy-soaked slice of beef - a "moist-maker", Ross Geller from Friends might call it.

Today, I tried the classic beef sandwich; succulent slices of Sunday best served in a soft torpedo with a bowl of dipping gravy and horseradish on the side. (If you're a meat-lover and you just had a teeny tiny orgasm, just wait until you taste it.)

The chicken salt chips absolutely MUST be dipped in the gravy for a taste explosion

A hip, diner-style eatery, Dip & Flip sits on the main drag in the Junction, on the same parade as the Be At One bar and a couple of doors up from the Northcote pub. It's the perfect place to refuel if you're on the Battersea cocktail trail - but it's also family-friendly and well worth calling in with the kids for a groovy lunch or tantilising tea.

The atmosphere is friendly and informal, the bar is well stocked with appealing boozy options, well-suited to the meaty menu, and the puddings come courtesy of Northcote Road stalwarts, Dessert Deli.

I can recommend washing down your Dip & Flip with the Orchard Pig cider

As my partner is friends with the owner, we were talking business as well as meat: something very special could be appearing on the walls in the next few weeks, courtesy of my v talented other half.

It'll be well worth checking out if you find yourself in South London before Christmas - but the main event is, of course, the double-delectable meat and gravy. Flippin' delicious.

El is a big fan of the fried chicken sandwich served with coleslaw and pickle

Burger thumbs up: owner Tim is sure to extend you a warm welcome

I told you how I popped on my cherry red Dr. Marten's for a firework display on Saturday...

...but if you really want to push the boat out on the big night itself, may I suggest these babies in a joyous blue floral print.

Wear with a blue dress and black tights, or stick to all black styling and let the floral footwear pop.

Made in Chelsea Phoebe's eye print jumper

Due to the extreme "to-do" work list I have on my desk right now, blog posts may be short and sweet for a time - and I'm struggling to keep up with Made in Chelsea too (although I put in a decent effott at lunchtime today, speed-watching two episodes whilst stuffing my face with Monster Munch - evil Halloween leftovers, man).

I couldn't really give a toss about the Phoebe-Jamie-Lucy-Watson love triangle (so hokey and contrived it's not even worth commenting on) but I did quite like Phoebe's eye print black and white jumper.

I'm sure fashionista Phoebe was wearing the sold out Kenzo original but if you like the concept of eyes for jumpers, one of these two infinitely more affordable options will see you right...

Maria Grachvogel

11 years ago today I went and got myself hitched to a pretty decent chap.

I wore a backless crepe silk dress in gold with an asymmetric fabric corsage by Maria Grachvogel. There was nothing traditional about it, or the wedding (in Gibraltar, a la John and Yoko).

In honour of Maria, thought I'd share the catwalk show above.

Quite simply, she rocks.

Rosie Fortescue's camo dress

As it's the weekend and all, I think we should take a few chances with the print...and the ol' hemline.

I have it on good authority that Rosie Fortescue, out of that Made in Chelsea show we just can't shake off, was spotted today wearing this cute, long sleeved camo print dress.

Naturally, it's £190 (Chelsea gals don't do it on the cheap) but just how sweet could it look with tights, studded ankle boots and a boxy leather jacket? (Beanie optional.)

And if you'd like a slightly more conservative (and much more affordable) alternative...

80s tops and scary fireworks

Check this out: a genuine 80s BHS top sourced from my brother-in-law's cellar.

Bit small over the six pack (hmmm) but loving it none-the-less.

Man I love retro...

The perfect outfit to wear for a firework extravaganza during which mega rockets (display level) are being let off in a normal-sized garden by amateur enthusiasts (read: overgrown little boys).

Pray for us, readers; my nerves haven't been this shredded since the illegal Chinese firework incident circa Christmas 2001.
